2001 Used Maxima Purchase

Ok, for some reason my search ability is not activated, so I couldn't search for a related thread already in progress. Therefore, I will post this thread.

I am going tomorrow night to look at the following:

2000 Silver 5 SPD
18K miles
$21K

2001 Black 5 SPD
26K miles
$22K
----
I don't know the full descriptions but I know one of them is fully loaded with leather seats. (I wish I knew which one, hehe) Anyway, I'm bringing one of my friends with me, he's a car expert. Since there are plenty of Maxima enthusiasts here, I was wondering your opinion. I would like the 2001 since it's the newer year. Thanks

Stevo

Sounds like WAY too much money.

You can get a NEW 2003 for 22.5-23K

USed 2002s with 20-30 miles are between $15 and 20K

So a 2000/1 should run between $13-$17 ish, depending on models and features.

I am buying from a dealer. We are obviously gonna try to talk the price down.

Go to www.kbb.com and get the tradein and retail value of the car. You're doing good if you can buy close to the tradein number. The dealer will try to sell it for more than the retail value. Just for comparison, I saw in my paper today that the local dealer was selling a new 2003 SE for 22K (one at this price).

Both of those prices are way too high....like 20-40% too high. No dealer will negotiate from $22K to $15K.

I have yet to see a 02 at 15k and most of those selling for 18k or so were previous rentals.

2000 SE

I bought my 2000 Black SE last year with 15k on it. The dealer had it listed at $22k. I got him down to $18k. The car has every option and I got the extended warranty. Wait until the end of the month. I went on the last day of Sept. they are ready to move cars to reach quota.

NO!

I was gonna do the same thing on a demo, and it turns out now I can get a 2K3 for 23,000 with .9% financing. That is waht I am shooting for as soon as I can sell my car!

heck I just picked up an 03 6spd with 5500 miles from a state cop for 20k. I mean you should be able to pick up a 00 or 01 for 13-18k easily, granted mine didnt have sunroof or leather or bose, but 13-18k you should look to be your price range

Later

Re: Re: NO!

this is just my 2 cents. I just purchased a 2000 Maxima GLE with the Bose system, everything except traction control and heated seats for $15,995.

I think I got a pretty good deal. Am I wrong?
