Radar detector

Usage in CA ?
Another thing that I always wonder about ... As far as I can see, radar detector usage is not that prevalent in CA ( atleast bayarea and So. Cal ! )
Wondering why !!!
Maybe all folks have done stealth installs
When I was in the east coast, I just felt it was used by more folks ...

Of course, its no substitute for common sense -- its not that you can speed insanely just 'cuz you have a detector !
My guess is that most 1st time buyers think that they have a complete license to speed with a R.D - and of course get a hefty ticket and then whine about the detector "not being useful" etc !!!
If used properly ( like most things ), I think it can save your a$$ from arbitrary and unsafe speed limit/tickets.

I haven't decided yet which new detector to buy but thank goodness for my older Cobra detector...saved my butt twice just last night. Two different state troopers came up from behind in the dark and even though I only got faint signals (old detector) it was enough of a warning for me to slow down just enough.
