Mitsubishi 3K GT vs. Max...

I know I'll be flamed for posting this and it'll probably be deleted but I have to say that I raced a '97 Mitsubishi 3000 GT. We agreed to start from a roll ( around 40 m.p.h.) because his car is stick shift and mine is an auto. So we did and he never caught up with me. In fact, I was leaving him behind and around 100 m.p.h. I was almost 2 carlengths away and that's when I decided to let go the gas. He told me that he had more than 222 hp because it was modified although he didn't tell what kind of mods it had. He also said there was no way my Max. could beat'im. I guess he'll have more respect for Max's from now on. By the way, my Max. is an '03 SE.

Nice kill. Lucky it wasn't the VR-4 though. Those are pretty fast.

i got a 3000GT, and its A LOT slower than my mom's Maxima (2003 GLE). I borried it for a week and was super impressed with its power. But yea, 222 vs 255 makes a huge difference. Also, like someone else already said, the 3000GT is rediculously heavy for a sports car, which is why u never see any used as race cars, like how Supra's are.

VR-4's RULE!!! I'm graduating college soon, so assuming I find a job, I'm planning to get a VR-4. 320HP stock with AWD is hard to beat. Just gotta put a few things on it, like boost controller and other stuff, and it can take on a lot of cars on the road.

Isn't it funny....

...when 222 HP used to be a lot? I remember when I was growing up and the Mustang GT had a staggering 225 HP. I was like OMFG!!! Now our family sedan has 255 (supossidly). I'm glad to see that the auto makers are less concerned about gas mileage again and cars are starting to get beefy.

Next thing is to make 4 wheel drive and HIDs standard on all vehicles.

Oh, nice kill but I will say that the 3000GT no matter what the flavor looks faster than the Maxima. My neighbor got a used Dodge Stealth (same car basically) and she was like "Wow this thing is fast". I'm thinking "Don't let me catch you on the road toots!"

Yes, automakers are making more power, but the government (at least here in America) is making them be concerned about gas mileage...

the 255 (supposedly) HP maxima gets WAY better gas mileage than that old 225HP Mustang you speak of.

but it's definately nice to see that they are putting power back into cars...

realtor,
nice kill with the 3000GT...I test drove a used one bacak in 1998, thinking about buying it (ended up with a new 1998 Sentra SE--sr20de) and it had good get up and go (not like my maxima) but the radio was all screwed up...the electronics were definately bad...I didn't know that was common on them until RBa said something about it.
