My VI kicks in at exactly 5000 RPMs.
It's extremely noticeable.
I wish I could extend my rev limiter to have my next gear fall closer 5000 instead of like 4000-4500.
I remember someone posting ideal shift points from a program.
I think (don't quote me on the numbers, this is only from memory) that 1st would be 7600, 2nd 7200, 3rd 6800, 4th 6500
(Or something like that).
This is for a 2000/2001 by the way.

Even if it was, it just gonna cause a loss in torque in the midrpms anyway. Its not really needed til over 5000rpms, in the 3.0's anyway.

2k-2k1's engage around 5,200rpms. If you go any lower, there is a loss of mid-range TQ. Our 6,550rpm redline and 6,600rpm rev limit doesn't allow us to utilize the top-end we have. The power keeps pulling even at redline.
The engagment point is very noticable with an aftermarket intake. The pitch and sound of the intake goes from growly/bassy into a clear high pitch snarl
If it doesn't do this and the sound gets louder and bassier as you approach redline, your VI isn't working.

Well if the VI change over is detected by a change in the pitch of how the intake screams, them mine opens up at 4200rpm. From like 2800-4000 it just sound evil (stillen/franken) but a little past 4K rpms the tone totally changes and it just screams to redline. I know it opens after 5K but my car is weird like that.

Oh well, I'm selling my Max anyway.
