OMG, Dave H is probably laughin at the top of his lungs right no since hes the 1 who created this. Im probably gonna just leave mine alone for the time being but will definetly to the quote to dave "GAB" mode on my next ride. Btw steve 2K2 6spd is 3rd behind Emax in trap, Dave H ran a 102 trap the other night which I belive topps Ethan, I think he ran a 101 somehthing. Ill be going those #'s soon enough.

Try some boneyards. The filter framees are interchangeable from 2000-2003.

Actually, I think that if you put 2k2_6spd's car at the same track it would be quicker than Emax's. Remember that firebird is about 1500ft above sea level, which is hurting 2k2's mph by about 1-2mph!

If you do the same math on my 2000 it would equate to almost 96mph in the 1/4 with basically a stock 2000 5sp!

I'm a firm believer in this style of airbox. I did this to my 4th gen's airbox a few months ago and I've been happy ever since. Yesterday I ran a 14.45@99.5mph with this style airbox. No resonators, K&N filter panel, and a cut in the lower airbox. My car seems to run better at all RPMs plus the airbox sounds much more healthy than the HKS hybrid setup I had.

FYI, this setup has been know as the "hacked" airbox by other members and it's been done for years now at Maxima.org.

Will all the problems with MAFS when running an aftermarket air intake I'm seriously interested in performing the "hacked" airbox mod. I own a 2003 maxima was wondering if any fellow Org. members can give me the required info on how to perform this mod. Thanks in advance.

The bottom of my front bumper. It wouldnt be hard for me at all because like I said, I already have a hole in the bottom of my stock scoop where the resonator attached.

Why bother removing the snorkle in front of the engine bay? And what piece sticking out of the bottom are you talking about? The elbow that goes from the bottom of the intake to the silencer? Don't cut it, just take it off.

I used to say that too, but u can actuallu use that to your advantage and have it guide air to the box. From the front as well as the bottom with the 3" tube. It will basically be kind of a ram air setup not exactly but the air will always be rushing to the filter this way. Just my .02

I used a dremel and mine looks awesome. But yea, just cut it out, remove the elbow and rout some sort of tube to the front bumper. I have a couple more pics on my homepage of it if youd like to check them out, page 3.

I havent routed the tube yet. I'm hesitant to use the dryer tubing because its metal and will absorb a lot of heat. I'm trying to come up with something that will be more efficient and keep the air cooler. When I'm done with it I'll be happy to post some pics.

I was just curious, because I too have something in mind. I don't think it will be possible to route anything to the front of the bumper. From what I have seen most people just attach it to the splash guard. I think that helps, but I would like more of a ram effect with out cutting into anything. We shall see....

Just did the GAB mod. Not as loud as i expected. Definietly not as loud as my bro's PR intake. I guess I'll go ahead and do the Ooglie intake. For those that wanted another link, Bigdogjonx has one on his site.

I'm skeptical on the loudness of the GAB. Some people said
it was as loud as the Frankencar.

It's not. If you floor it, you can hear it. It's definitely a deeper sound at WOT. But under normal driving conditions, it's no differerent than stock.

Look, just go take the insert completely out, put the filter in without the insert, get it to stay in place, and drive around the block.
