Bose 6-CD
Hello Maxima owners,
Anyone know if a 2002 Bose head unit will work in my Non-Bose setup?
I have a 2002 SE with the single CD set-up. I'm hoping the size as well as the connections in the back of the unit are the same. I'd like to switch to the Bose and retain the steering wheel controls. Later I'm going to upgrade all 4 speakers. The factory speakers gotta go!
Thanks for any information.

It won't fit in your head unit. I had one of the bose head units that skipped all my CDs. I took the car to the dealer in November and they ordered me a new head unit. It finally came in after over 6 months and I took the car in to get the replacement. Low and behold they ordered the standard headunit not the Bose head unit
They told me the head unit they recieved didn't fit into my car. I asked them if it was the standard head unit they ordered the service tech nodded his head in disbelief... Gave me some B.S. about they are going to put a rush order on the Bose head-unit so I should be expecting a call next week.

Bose systems have an amplifier to power the speakers, whereas the regular systems run on the amp built in to the radio. The Bose HU sends low voltage signal to the amp, then to the speakers. Non-bose send high voltage directly to the speakers. They are not cross compatible.

Thanks for all the feedback. Good thing I asked. I saw a Bose head unit on e-bay. Now I won't bother to even bid on it. I'll settle for upgrading those paper cone with the paper wizzer tweeter speakers!

I had a Bose system in my car, it was the first thing to go. I think you are fortunate to not have one or the crappy sound that goes with it. It will be that much easier and cheaper for you to build your aftermarket system.
Have fun!
