blue marker on headlights?

i was just looking around the net one boring day when i saw that someone had used a blue permanent marker and colored their headlights with it to give it that blue tint like xenon lights. does this actually work? is it safe? what are your opinions?
i think it is totally cheap and ricey

As in - they colored the bulb itself or the lens/housing ?
I would not get to coloring the bulb - u are not even supposed to touch 'em 'cuz the oil in your skin is supposed to kill the bulbs early....
I would think the stuff in permanent markers ( kinda oil based ) will not do it any good......and it *will* look ricey !

I used some blue permanant marker on my dome light, after having it on for like a minute the blue color turned brown from the heat, and I ended up with really yellow light. I imagine the same exact thing would happen if you were to do it to your headlight bulbs. The light output would probably go straight to hell also.
