Rotate when ?

How often should one rotate thier tires. My girl's car probably has about 9000 on her current tires. I thought it was every 10k.

Am I on crack? Thanks.

Seems a bit long between rotations to me. I generally do it about every 5-6K.

6months or 6k. I work at NTB/ Sears automotive and they offer free rotations to the public.

uh, an alignment every 6 months seems excessive, unless you're driving over craters everyday or are in Iraq.

As a rule of thumb, Sears and NTB rotate the tire for free for the life of the tires... if you purchased the tires at Sears or NTB.

General suggestion is tire rotation every 10k miles (max) or every 3 oil changes. If you use a good tire, it will wear well under this... I had tires on my Intrepid (Cooper Cobras) that went 60k miles because of proper rotation and care.

Also, you should align your car every year, especially in the urban areas with pothole city. And the railroad crossings in Chicago suck.

For MA, I don't think every 6,000 miles is excessive. There are tons of pot holes up here and some of them could be classified as craters.

It doesn't cost me anything everytime I have it aligned.
I purchased a Lifetime Alignment from Firestone for $99.00. They will do an alignment every 6 months or 6,000 miles for as long as you own the car. After 2 alignments, it pays for itself.

Re: Rotate when ?

6K miles is usually about right, unless you have OCD like me and do it at every service.

Does anyone know if this deal is at every Firestone in the country?
