yeah....my 02 Altima with a 2.5 4 banger got 15mpg on 89 octane....but I got rid of it with 5k on it...not sure how it would fair when fully broken in.

Make sure you're running at least 91 octane though....

BP used to stand for British Petroleum, now since it was bought by Amoco, its now Beyond Petroleum..

I was told that Amoco is the best gas around....There is no Chevron in NYC that I know of, but from my experience 93 is 93....

your mileage depends more on your driving style than the brand of gas you use. I get about 420 miles per tank with 20% city/80% highway. I almost hit 500 on one trip (100% highway)... actually I think I would have hit 500 miles if the wife didn't freak about running out of gas.

try this... NEVER go over 3000 rpm, do not 'get on it' from lights/stop signs (even if you keep it under 3k rpm). Accelerate slowly, don't let the car stop if at all possible (like at a stop sign if there's a line, keep back far enough so you can roll all the way up to it instead of stopping/starting as each car goes through).

Do that for one whole tank and see what changes. This is not an uncommon tank for me:

My driving is 60/40 city/highway. My last fill was at 239.6 miles and I filled 9.247 gallons. Turns out to be 25.91 mpg in mix driving. Most of my driving was done during rush hour and my rpms do hit 3,500rpms occasionally. BTW I'm a 3.0L

My mileage sucks big time. I average about 260 miles per fillup. I usually fill up when the gas light comes on, so figure another 2-3 gallons left in there.

However, when I calculate the mpg manually, I get about 17-18mpg. My driving is 80/20 city/highway.

By the way, this mileage is with barely any hard driving. Most of the time when I'm just cruising along, I shift at 2-2.5k rpms. I do OCCASIONALLY bring it up higher, but not enough to seriously hamper mileage. Hopefully once the weather gets warmer, the mileage will improve.
