I am about to buy a used maxima and when I looked under the hood there was like tape wrapped around a few of the hoses. It seemed strange but I looked under another one of the them and that one had tape too. What is this? The car is a 2000 SE auto with only 10,000 miles. Any help is appreciated. Also how do you tell if a car is cali spec from the engine bay or from VIN? Thanks

 

i asked about the black electrical tape when i purchased my 2k, the explaination was that these tapes can withstand the high temps.....so far so good when i looked at them a week ago......
