Help! Bose Driver Side Speaker problem

Can someone please help me?!!

I own a 03 SE and have a common problem where the driver side speaker phases on/off or sounds fuzzy only when playing CD's...the problem comes and goes when riding on bumps on the road or changing CD's...i have read in this forum before (a while ago when i did not experience the problem) that it is a problem of the head unit(the clarion HD specifically resulting from a wire angled poorly) so i am going to take it to the dealer to have them correct it but i would like to take with me a copy of this one post that detailed this problem very well. I think the details of that post will help me greatly in explaining the problems to the dealer. I would normally just use the search feature but it is disabled for me.

if someone could please post the link to that thread, i would greatly appreciate it!

thanks in advance,

It is the CD player not the speakers. They are POS. Take it back to the dealer and have him replace it (even though I did that twice with the same issue coming back). Or, just go aftermarket. That is the best solution. The speakers sound so much bettr with an aftermarket radio.

Thanks!!! so much kronnman for the thread link!

look2me40:
any good ideas for a decent aftermarket replacement? I assume I won't lose the steering wheel stereo button functionality with an aftermarket...

How much is a decent aftermarket replacement with installation?

Thanks again!

yeah, you prolly will lose the steering wheel function...and if you do get the HU replaced, make sure the manufacture date is AFTER December 2002

You can keep the steering wheel controls as long as your aftermarket unit has an infared remote. Check out the Audio and Electronics forum and read the FAQ. All the questions about replacing Bose HUs, adding subs, changing speakers, steering wheel controls, etc are there. The only thing it doesn't tell you is which HU/speakers/amps to buy. That's up to you and your musical preferences.

Hey people.... I have the same problem, and I refuse to bring it back to Nissan for a couple reasons:

1) they need to look at the problem first, which means that I gotta leave the car with em to diagnose and then leave it when they fix it.

2) this headunit is sooooo weak.....I have to crank it up to "20" to get the speakers to push sound and then it only goes up to "31" WTF????!!! I thought this was 200 watts.

I chose to order a Kenwood Excelon HU, but I gotta question for ya audio-techs....will this new HU be louder than my stock HU?? with reference to my #2 above, the stock unit barely gets loud enough for me to hear my stereo on the highway with some windnoise...will the aftermarket correct this?

I don't want to have to replace the speakers too
