engine oil cooler

had any experience with engine oil coolers? Are they essential to prolong engine life?I am thinking of installing one and would appreciate some opinions.

your car is NA? if so, you dont need a oil cooler.

if you really want to go for one....get the one with a thermostat in the adapter. It will open the valve when your oil reach certain temperature.

this is being answered in your other thread... you don't need to post the question in more than one forum.

unless your car is automatic and you tow a lot (will probably want a tranny oil cooler), or you have some sort of forced induction, you shouldn't need one. i've got a wrx and my oil temps are still on the safe side for normal driving, but when i auto-x they can get up there. from factory it comes with a water-to-oil heat exchanger so oil is somewhat regulated by the coolant temp, but no enough cooling capacity to keep temps down. i just bought an oil thermostat, setrab oil cooler core, and will be getting aeroquip ss lines and fittings. i could stay with rubber lines, but if i ever had a leak it would be the end of my car.
