Who has Injen CAI for 2K2-2K3?

A few questions:

1) How is the performance of this mod?

2) How difficult was the install?

3) Can/Does/Did this screw up the MAF?

Thanks all.

I have a 2k2 Auto with this mod. I love it, though the intake sounds "non stock" I like the sound. The install was a pretty simple bolt on. The instructions are very easy to understand though the only problem or sticky area of the install came where the filter tube mounts to the block of the car. My car has a standpipe for the oil dipstick so I had to slide the CAI bracket behind the oil one and then mount, so it took a little longer than anticipated but well worth the investment. I highly recommend this mod. As for the Maf problems, there are several people on this board that experienced Maf problems so maybe do a search and find the root cause as I don't have any experience here and hope to not! Hope this helps and good luck with the modding

1. Can you "feel" 5hp difference? I doubt it so the main reason to install (for me) was sound. I like the sound but you may or may not "feel" a difference in performance. And it looks very nice, too

2. Very easy. Go here for better instructions than you'll get in the box (not my page so thank him if you use it):
http://www.greghome.com/Greg's%20Gar...SE/ColdAir.htm

3. No MAF problems here.

1) Fantastic. Love the sound and throttle response

2) took me 45 minutes

3) This was my 3rd intake, I didn't unplug my MAF and haven't had the SES come on. Just make sure the piping inside the Injen is clean

1. I just installed it 5 minutes ago, but I like it so far. I can definitely feel a difference from 5000+ RPMs. I like it because it isn't loud unless you go WOT. Every day driving I will not know it's there.

2. I timed my install. 40 minutes, including test drive.

3. I don't see why it would, but I just put it on.

you should reset the ECU and the Throttle Position Learning after installing the Injen intake to prevent MAF failure! Follow the procedures below:

are you suppose to do all these steps?

-ECU Resetting Procedures
-Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
-Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
- Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)

or just the first two?

you're right, it is the auto tranny fluid level dipstick. I encountered the same issue while I was putting on my CAI.

Do them all while you're at it...it won't hurt to let the ECU to relearn everything once awhile.

Answers: 1) Mostly "audio" performance, not so sure on any more real h.p. 2) Super-easy install; my only problem was losing part of the decal lettering while getting the bend tube inserted into the rubber collar 3) Not at all!

There is better throttle response with the intake as well. Not sure about the additional ponies, but the engines revs better now...

This is my 2nd injen, the 1st one I had a little trouble installing (right Gayson?)

But on my 2k2, it took about 20-30 mins for the install.

I love the sound it makes after 4000-5000 RPM's.

I have it. I love the sound it makes. Definately less sound than the Frankencar, but it sounds a little deeper.

I feel like it adds more low end pep over the frankencar also.

Easy to install and looks so pretty.

No MAF problems so far.

Engine Revs better means that it is breathing better with less restiction. Therefore, redline comes quicker than with the stock airbox.

Hey Igor911,

Is that a carb sticker that is on your injen intake? The pipe right after the maf sensor.

I dont remember what it says on it, Its a metal sticker of some sort attached to it.

I'll look at it when I get home and let you know.

I definitely think the FrankenCar is a bit peppier, but noise levels were my main concern.

Another thing- the quality of all the components is amazing and it was a perfect fit, especially with the mounting bracket on the lower pipe.

I wanted the frankencar but everytime I emailed them or called them I got no answer for 2 weeks. I found that ridiculous so I just ordered the Injen.

From looking at Greg's page, and some of the pictures here, it looks like the Injen filter sits behind the radiator. I haven't actually seen or taken a ride in a max with an Injen, but theoretically it seems like the Injen is sucking hot air from behind the radiator. Am I mistaken in the design?

TIA

This subject has been beat to death. The Injen filter does not sit behind the radiator. It sits to the side of it. The pipe that goes down is at an angle and basically sits below the battery.

The only time that the intake sucks hot air is probably when the car is stationary (radiator fan is blowing). But once the car is moving, cold air from underneath the car will be drawn into the filter.

So far I've had the INJEN CAI for 10,000 miles, no problems so far. And I love the sound of it. The intstallation wasn't difficult at all.

It definitely sits below the radiator too. It is almost underneath the battery.

On your 2k you tried to mount it to the tranny. I still laugh when I saw Moe laugh at you and you were like "What did I do wrong"

It sits below the battery where the old resonator box was for the OEM intake

Hey Igor,

Thanks for the pic. I've called injen and they said that they would send me the carb sticker, just as long I fax them a proof of purchase. With the laws getting a little stricter, it can't hurt having a carb sticker attached to your aftermarket intake

When they changed over to black hoses (like mine) they started to include the carb sticker on the piping.

The Injen logos are actually stickers that you put on the tubing.
It doesn't come on the piping when shipped...unfortunately, I lost my stickers...lol.
