on the caps
The only place I've heard about getting the timing advanced is a Nissan dealership, and it really seems to depend on the relationship that you have with them. I remember reading a thread not too long ago where a guy said he went to 2 or 3 different dealerships trying to have it done and no one would do it, even if he wanted to pay them. Then he drove a little extra to go see the woman who he actually bought the car from, she went in and got a service technician, and he advanced the timing and increased the idle speed for him right there in the parking lot of the dealership. He said it took the guy 5 minutes to do it and he didn't have to pay a thing. Now that's service.

I have a friend that works at an Infiniti dealer that allowed me to use it. I upped mine a few weeks ago, then last week went in for the ECU update at the dealer that I bought the car from. They flashed the ECU with the latest version without asking me first, and then would not set the timing back to where I had set it (went back to the stock 15 degrees.) I argued with the service manager for 20 minutes over it, but they wouldn't do squat. Had to call in a favor again at the Infiniti house. Pretty easy to do if you can get your hands on one. Prolly gonna be a hit or miss thing with different dealers though. I noticed a little difference, especially on the low and mid range torque. I don't think I would pay more than $50 for it though. Spend that money on something else that won't be reset anytime computer upgrades are done.
