Y-Pipe installed - Issues!!!

First off, let me say that Jeff at Budget Performance is a class act, I took a drive up there today to get my Y-Pipe, not only was it installed quickly, but, at no charge!!, and, I scored a free T-Shirt .

Now, my issues, first off, I now have a nasty clunk when I go around left corners, any idea's on that, I will take it to a muffler shop tomorrow to see whats up.

Second, the dreaded SES light came on after about an hour, I figured it would, and assume it is an issue with the O2 Sensor, I will pull the code tomorrow, but, until then, do you think I should reset the ECU to see if it goes away?

Third, it is LOUD, I should have kept my stock muffler, so, if anyone wants to trade a stock muffle for a Powertech PT1011, let me know.

All in all, I love the fact that I gained my power back .

What do you mean that you gor your power back, how did you loose it in the first palce? Also is yours Cali or fed spec. and has it ever thrown a code before the Y pipe. I have a 2K1 cali spec and am just trying to figure out if I will have the same problem.

I am Cali spec, and, it has never thrown a code prior to this. As for the power, I felt that after I installed the Frankencar I lost a litle low end torque, but, now I appear to have more low end, and, high end, but, I guess it could be the placebo effect .

Your largest gains should be from the y-pipe alone, more than the straight pipe/b-pipe/muffler together. If I'm not mistaken, the y-pipe by itself doesn't add that much noise...it's when you start modding the other parts of your exhaust along WITH the y-pipe that it starts getting noisy.

Kloogy...how loud is yours on the highway with all your mods? Can you still hear your stereo?

My car is nice and quiet with this modified factory muffler and no resonator.

Cut the small factory pipe off as short as possible and grind out the remaining piece that is welded to the ID of the muffler. Clean up the ID with a grinder. Slip a 2 1/2" mandrel bent tube over the OD of the factory muffler hub that remains and weld to the muffler.

For the banging it's probably hitting across the crossmember brace under your car... Just put a few washers on each bolt and lower it a lil.

I just left the battery disconnected overnight, but, it didn't matter the SES came on again. I took it to Autozone, and, they pulled a P0171 - Lean Condition, Bank 1. Any Idea's on this puppy, I would search, but, well, you know .
