Just installed my Powertech PT1011

Hi guys need a little info here. Two things... i just installed my powertech muffler and love the look, and the sound till i get to around 2000 to 25000 rpms.....then it really drones inside the car. At freeway speeds its WAY too loud till I am over 70 mph. I have no other exhause mods. Is there anything that can be done? I was even wondering about lining the trunk with a sound barrier of some sort. The tips are well out from under the car. Also, I need to lower my car to eliminate the wheel gap....should i go with different springs or a coilover?

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Did you install it for sound or performance?

Is it a really bad drone? I ask because I am ordering either a 1011 or a 1012 muffler within 2 weeks, and if the drone is really bad (can you hear it over the stock Bose over 23 volume?) then I may reconsider.

IMO, I would go stock over a drone of any kind.

get a cheap 3" muffler and use in inline (in your b pipe) as a resinator to lower the sound.

Good question....actualy i did it for both....and i have to say....car feels more responsive with new muffler on.....just wish the drone was not quite as loud. You really have to crank the stereo to cover it. I will try living with it for a few days.

If you think the powertech alone is too loud, you should never touch your exhaust. Just leave it like it is....

I just ordered the PT1011 tonight. I hope I like it. I'm going to get the warpspeed b-pipe with resonator too. Hopefully it won't be too loud.

Yeah keep the resonator, its a bit loud without one especially with the Y-pipe. I just dont know how some1 considers a powertech alone too loud! There is little change in the overall db level. The tone is diff but still I think

I have the loudest setup possible. B pipe w/ no resonator, straight pipe , Y pipe and the powertech....Its freakin loud. But no where near my WS6 or my Stang.... Its not as mean a sound as those V8's either. Its a nice growl. I need to add a resonator to it, to quiet it down, since it attracts every POS Honda and In-***ra to want to race , I mean get smoked by me....

Yeah your right, yours is the loudest possible setup but comparing it to your Pontiac WS6 is a bit diff, those are loud with exhaust mods, but its a good loud the kinda note thats just intoxicating when you get on the throttle. Mine is just too damn deep and at times I really dont feel like getting on it for a few reasons, first its a 3.0 auto enough said, second is the exhaust isnt the best sounding (id rather have a WS6 ) and third is that speeding ticket I just got 77 in a 40 I love the sound of a throaty v8, those cant sound bad with any setup you choose. The max, well thats a diff story.

WEll I guess its a matter of taste. I really like the looks of the muffler and I can feel a difference in performance, but Its very loud at hiway speeds. The loud drone that even music cant cover.....I like a good sounding exhaust....but i didnt expect this much roar on the hiway.

Dude dont get me wrong im not trying to insult you or anything (id make it painfully obvious if I was ) Im just really surprized thats all. Ive heard a powertech on a 02 and I had no clue he even had a aftermarket muffler til I looked down there and saw it. Needless to say I didnt hear it from inside so I can argue with you on how loud it is inside, but compared to mine since I have a y-pipe and b-pipe w/res. My setup is louder inside then I would like, well I should say DEEPER inside then id like but I personally dont cosdsider a powertech muffler hooked up to a stock exhaust system to be loud, it looks great but like you said its a matter of taste. I dont know if you have any exhaust work done other then that but check out the link in my sig for the clips if you already havnt. From those clips mine does sound louder but you be the judge. On my car it does drone from 1500-1900rpm but above that its quiet (considering im not on the gas) above 50 at part throttle it doesnt bother my one bit, if I made a clip of mine over 50 you wont hear anything. On the highway/freeway all I hear is my intake.

Anyone know if the PT1014 will have the same sound as the PT1011?
the PT1014 has a stock looking tip where the pt1011 has dual 3.5" tips?

thanks
