2000 SE / What is a good 1/4 Mile Time
I just ran my 2000 SE 5spd Max today, I ran consistant 16.3's at 83mph. Ran 6 times, all pretty much the same! I do know how to drive, I've run the 1/4 several times, so I'm quite positive its not my driving. The car is 100% bone stock! Any info. as to why such crappy times would be much appreciated. Also, what happens at 3.5k RMP's in our cars? I noticed that I get major hesitation at 3.5k RPM's? I don't have a check engine light! Thanks....

Hm. Have you had your coils replaced yet? MAF? Also check your plugs for crud buildup Maybe you need to just get 'em out (fixed my ET's by 0.4 believe it or not - a bad or worn plug can make a world of a difference after higher mileage... I'm guessing by now you did the coil/maf tsb's anyways).
I think a decent time would be a 15.0-15.5 depending on elevation, traction, ambient temperatures, etc...

MaxJag : yup, they have known issues with bad coils (results in power loss).. the MAF issue is generally more of a thing that won't pop up until it screws you over and gets you stranded somewhere or in limp mode
I don't have the TSB's handy.. check the stickies in this forum and the FAQ's! They're bound to be in there!
mingo : take out the backseat? I took my spare/backseat out and ran a 15.195! -completely- stock..

That is a bad time. Two things; You proabably hesitate at 3500 rpm because it soundslike you dont drive it above there usually. If you get in the habit of always shifting your car at the same RPMs, it will hesitate when you move through that point. Also, how high were you bringing the RPMs before shifting?
