Hess vs Arco vs Amoco

Do we have any chemical/petroleum engineers or filling station owners in the .org? If so maybe you can share with the group what actually goes into the underground tanks at your local filling station.

I used to live in Florida. I was always amazed to see people paying 2x the price for oranges in a mesh "Indian River" bag to take home to New Jersey. I wonder... where do they think the ornages at their local Winn Dixie and Safeway are grown? Vermont?

Do you really think Hess or Arco sells less refined gasolne than Chevron or Shell? How much Techron do think Chevron puts in their 93 octane? Ever seen the formula broken down into ppm?

i'm kinda curious about this myself. the consensus seems to be that arco gas is better for the environment while being of less "quality." i assume this is attributable to their refining process. but i'd like to know if i'm really taking hit if i put in arco gas. is it leaving more deposits or something????

ehhh....i used to work at hess... always read the invoice everytime we got gas...

we got gas from citgo loading stations.. pretty much gas is gas.. its just that different gas stations compete with one another thats why there are different gas prices...

but basically at hess.. they put in liek 3-4 additives as required by law... i fergot what they were tho..

i disagree...in the summertime, pretty much doesn't matter. but in the winter, amoco uses a couple extra additives, and thus is always slightly more expensive, and better for the ol' car

I'll use anything as long as it doesn't have MTBE in it. That was a big thing in Maine a couple years ago. Talk about poor gas mileage and performance. I had my Infiniti G20 at the time. Averaged 23 mpg in Maine but when i got gas in a state without MTBE i would get around 28. I prefer to use Amoco.
