I think my original post got deleted or something. But, its true. My MAF blew this past friday. Everything was fine, i get in my car, turn the ignition, then i take off a little quick (probably revved up to 5k rpms, should be no problem with that), then about a 1/8 of a mile later, nothing, the engine just goes limp, and the car stalled. I tried starting it again, it would start, sputter, and stall again, and it did this for a little while. Then, it would just start, but i couldn't revv the engine past 1500 or so, and it would just be struggling to get there, so I knew right away it was the MAF. Had it towed to the dealer, and they looked at it and said it was the MAF, so they ordered one and its bein fixed under warranty (even tho i'm over by 1K, they hooked me up. But, I'm wondering about one thing. A few weeks ago, I got an oil change (not at the dealer), and I decided to change the air filter. So, I bought one of the purolator or something ones that they had at the oil change place. I didnt think it made a difference, i thought it'd be just as good as the stock air filter, if not better. Anyway, is it possible that that was the culprit? Could it be that just cuz it wasn't a stock nissan air filter that it caused the MAF to go? I really doubt that, but maybe I'm wrong. And again, I have not a single engine or performance mod on my car.
