These tires seem reasonably priced, are they decent tires?

Overall they are good tires. They don't loose traction as they heat up, which is good for the track and long distance driving. But they are less than optimum for wet driving conditions.

I forgot to mention that I have the 450 version of them. They are a great tire. Just don't buy them if you live in an area where it's wet/flooding alot, as they aren't the best tire for wet areas. Other than that, they are an excellent choice.

555 is a great tire. I've had them on for about 20K miles (it's time to replace 'em now though). I think they've got good traction in the rain, but they're lousy in the snow (i know it's a summer tire), but I had it on in the Michigan winter. They're still a 1000 times better than the stock crapenzas in snow and water. Although, I would recommend you get a snow tire if u live in such an area. btw they're nail happy...meaning the way the thread design is, they tend to pick up nails pretty quick. I've had about 6-7 nails (about 1 flat) w/in a year. So definitely keep checking 'em for nails. Also, I would recommend you get the life time warranty on those tires (if u get it from discount tire) as u're thinking of a pretty low series tire, so it may be more prone to damage given the area u live in. They're good for the track use, but if you plan on just using 'em on the streets I would probably recommend the 450 Nitto series as I think they give you better straight line handling.(not an expert on this, but just letting u know what i've seen and heard). Also the 450 series is M&S [Mud & Snow], so it is kind of an all season tire. Hope this helps.

I just got the 450's, and I am very happy with them. They handle better than the craptensa's in the rain, but I'm yet to try them out in snow. I wouldn't drive the 555's in the snow if I were you though, prob slip slide your way right off the road.

great tire. not only good with the traction and whatnot, but they also have very strong sidewalls. That is very important if you have low profile tires. I hit a pothole and bent the RIM and the tire was intact, now that's a strong tire. Go for it and buy them.

If you are looking for a good alternative, look at the Kumho Ecsta MX tires. I am very happy with them Discount tire recommended them over the Nittos and they were cheaper.

While this is about the 555's, I'm posting because the 450's were brought up. I had the 450's for about 37k miles, and enjoyed them for about the first 2 months or so. Once the quality starts to go it goes quickly. They were fine in teh snow the first year, but when they started to go, they went quickly. Just picked up some HTR+'s, so I'm hoping they'll be better (can't be much worse)
