Here's my situation...About two weeks ago, I was driving home from work, tired like a ****, when I noticed that my car was jerking during my shifts. I didn't know what the problem was because I was doing my usual routine, which usually doesn't exhibit any rough jerking. So I look down at my tach during shifts, and realize that my revs were dropping MUCH quicker when I stepped on the clutch than usual. At the time I attributed this to me being tired and sort of seeing things.

However, this morning on the way to work, the same thing happened for about 10 mins. The rpms would shoot down when I stepped on the clutch, and even if I shifted really fast, I'd get a jerk because the cluch would need to speed the engine up when it engaged. This went away after 10 mins or so, but now I'm left wondering what the **** happened here.

Anyone have similar experience or care to explain what went on?

I have a similar experience with my old 2k2 and now my 2k3..

It seems like for the first few thousand miles on both my cars, i could shift with out any problems, no jerk, but afterwards, man, i cannot shift smoothly, and yes my RPMS seem to drop rather quickly.. ITs like the only way to shift smoothly anymore is to have your foot lightly against the gas while shifting, to maintain the RPM at the next shift..

Its weird, but i learned to live with out..

Ed, I see what you're saying, but in my case, it's only happened twice thus far, and it went away on its own. I have about 5500 miles on the car, and the first time it happened, I had maybe 4500 on it.

When it happened today, it lasted for 10 mins or so, and then went away. I didn't shut the car off or anything, just kept driving my usual way. So it's been sort of sporadic thus far, and I'm wondering if it's a computer issue or something wrong with the flywheel.

 

It seems to be more apparent as the weather got warmer.. Thats my only observation...

Is the way the Max keeps the RPMs after you depress the clutch a function of the "Throttle by wire" system? If so, perhaps there is something wrong with that?

It's funny, I've never had a car that kept the RPMs so high after I put the clutch down. I guess once you get used to it you can't go back

 

I noticed the samething on a '05 max that I test drove. Is that common for the car to do that?
