Bose Radio TSB
Bose Radio TSB
Can someone point me to a link where I can find a Printable version of the Bose HU TSB. My dealer is playing dumb saying that nothing is wrong with the HU. So I am going to take the a-holes some proof that it needs to be replaced.

Re: Re: Bose Radio TSB
Hi everyone,
I have this Bose HU problem and I think the web site TSB link will help so much in convincing the dealer something is wrong. Thanks for this link!
However, I noticed that I cannot view the actual TSB for this HU problem unless I purchase a subscription - does anyone have the text to this TSB? If so, can they post it? I would certainly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance,

What Bose problem are you talking about...rattling, doesn't play certain CDs, cuts out in left side?
It's sad that we have so many problems with our "premium" stereo that when someone says, "I have the Bose HU problem" I have no idea which one they mean.

Armed with the TSB provided from the link in this thread, the dealer didn't ask any questions this time and offered to order a new HU to replace the original HU with the cut-outs on the left side speakers. Thanks to this thread, I am finally getting quick, supportive service from the dealer.
Out of curiousity, how exactly is the HU removed? I hear that something needs to be loosened from inside the ashtray followed by removal of the panel that surrounds the shifter?
Thanks,

Thanks,
I had the same left side cut out only when playing CD's. I took it to the dealer today and they're going to replace the HU. It's going to take a week and a half for the HU to come in. I hope this fixes the problem because it's really irritating to half the sound go out when playing music!
On a related note...has anyone replaced the tweeters in their maxima? I've read that putting in decent tweeters helps improve the sound of the Bose a lot. If you have, what kind did you get?

I (along with several other *.org members) installed the Polk EX3500 tweeters.....made a big difference with highs...much richer sound in my opinion
look for a writeup (with pics) by TIMW...easy install and cheap....i'm sure there are other good tweeters but I just went with these because of the help from the *.org
All: The TSB number is NTB03017. Take that number to the dealer and they'll pull the TSB for you. If anyone has the actual TSB, email it to me and I'll host it along with the other 5th Gen TSBs that I have on my homepage. If you have the actual TSB for any that I don't have, email them to me.
Maxalltheway: There is a screw underneath the ashtray that has to be removed in order to remove the trim around the shifter. You remove the ashtray insert and you'll see the screw.
Yakuza70: While replacing the tweeters will help the sound, the actual crappiness of the sound is coming from the HU. Even the new HU (I've had 3 so far) will sound like crap too. Look in the Audio Forum's FAQ for the Bose thread (and links) I've posted. You can read about the different Bose/aftermarket configurations and how they sound.
