Have UDP Installed or do it myself?

I've seen the posts for this before, saying it was hard to install the UDP on an auto. I have a buddy who works for Nissan, but doesnt have a lift at his house. Think we could do it in the driveway in a few hours? or is it worth it to just bring my car down to the shop? I have a 2k2 auto, as it says in the sig Also, i bought the belts required, do I need the... oil seal was it? from the nissan dealership? wanna make sure everything is gonna run fine and all....

Yeah you want to get a new oil seal when u put on a new crank pulley. They are not that much. But I am gonna do it myself cause I have air impact wrenches at home. It's gonna be tough to get the bolt off. After that. You should be fine.

It is a biatch to install. I defineately recommend having an impact wrench. THe main problem is the bolts on the tensioners. They are almost impossible to get to. My hand was hurting for a week after.

Wussie! Quit ur whining! But I do appreciate the help!

Getting the stock pulley off the first time was actually pretty easy. Getting it out the second time, on the other hand, was a total b1tch. What worked for me was heating the bolt with a torch, then impacting it out. Appearantly there is some kind of factory loc-tite on that bolt.

I don't see any reason to replace the seal on a VQ35 unless it's leaking. And yes, you can do it with floor jack and jackstands.

I would go ahead and replace the oil seal even if it isnt leaking. That seal was formed for the other crank pulley. I would get a new one. I mean it's not that expansive. But that's just my .02 cents

You didn't say if your buddy was a tech or not. If he is and he can get some tools from work it should be no problem to do in the driveway. Ask him if he has an electric impact wrench, as it will make getting that bolt out and back in much easier. Also make sure you have some long extensions and a universal joint for the tensioners and all will be good.
