Is there anything special I should know about installing a FSTB on a 00 GLE?

Yep, thats right. 32-38 is recommended. Very simple install, should take you 20-30 minutes. Have fun

I'm sorry this all new to me. 35ft/lbs? I know it's feet and pounds, but what do you mean?

 

When you tighten the tower nuts after you put the FSTB boot on... you need a torque wrench and tighten the nuts to 35ft/lbs... I did mine to 40... they say anything over 50 ft/lbs is bad

If you do a search on the board, you should find some easy to follow installation instructions... it might even be in the HOW TO section on top of the 5th gen forum board.

Not necessarily!! If the 2k's have the same bracket on the driver's tower as the 2k1's do, then there will be some rerouting of wires, modification of the bracket position, and possible modification to the FSTB 'ring' to allow it to fit.

 

Well if I had to do it again, I could do it in 5-10 minutes.. It's his first time to I assume.. But whatever...

 

When I mounted the OBX on my 2k SE, I took the brackets off and tightened it down to 40 ft/lbs.

When I mounted the OTTO on my 2k3 SE, I tightened it down to 40 ft/lbs.

cgmaxx00... ft/lbs is a unit of measure (physics) for measuring torque... it is basically a force of one pound acting at the end of a lever (or wrench) that is one foot long. So 35 ft/lbs of torque would be equivalent to a force of 35 pounds acting at the end of a level that is one foot long.
