Any MAF failures happen with other intakes? Injen/JWT/Stillen?
Can one replace and update MAF #22680-AM600 without taking to the dealer? How much is it?

My MAF failed with a Drop in K&N filter. Its mainly the oil'd filters that I have had problems with. You can replace the MAF on your own, I'd call the dealer for the price, as it may vary upon dealerships.

most dealers blame excess oil from the filters screwing up the maf, but we all know its BS

I don't even know why i'm posting my .02 because as soon as I say this it will break but I've had my Injen on for almost a year now and no problems with my MAF "YET"... Knock...Knock...Knock...Knock...Knock...Knock...Kn ock...

I think it may be vibration that causes many of the maf failures. My maf died after a single day with the franken/apexi combo. I noticed where it had been hitting and rubbing against the strut tower enough to wear the plastic from the sides of the filter. I'm gonna have to figure out how to rig up a decent mount before I put the intake back on.

Only changing the MAF is nescesary- I was not sure if the ECU had to be re-programmed(I heard someone mention this in the past)
So the car will not know the difference between sensors and pop a light on me?

I had the ECM re-programmed and they said my MAF was ok...

Where is the part number on the MAF?

IT is on the FRONT SIDE of the air tube ( the cooling fan side ), you may need a small mirror and a flashlight. Slide mirror down in between the air tube and the air box and you will see the numbers and letters.

I'm looking to get a intake and am leaning hard to a CAI. I am very concerned with all this talk of MAF failures. I hate to ask.... but are there any other quick comments on this subject??? I used to be an Helicopter mechanic in the ARMY and have a pretty mechanical backround, but this one has got me thinking. Thanks for the input!

I can't believe an oiled filter has anything to do with it unless it's dripping oil which they don't. I've had a Stillen on for a while and have had no problems.

I have spent the last 5 weeks with my local stupid Nissan dealer. I saw a Murano. 350z and a Sentra SER with Blown MAFS ... I guess its not a Frankencar thing....

Mine went out with a bone stock nissan filter in it.

Bone stock 2001 w/41k miles. Wife's car, seen WOT only once (when I borrowed it.) Blown MAF, dealer says $675.00, not under warranty.

Any suggestions?

PM DaveB, You only need to replace the sensor inside the housing. Dealer won't tell you that. It's like 75 bucks.

Dave said this is not correct. The MAF can ONLY be ordered as one complete part #.

Does anyone know if the replacement MAFs are any more reliable than the ones that came stock? My 2k2 is gonna be out of the shop tomorrow and I wonder if its safe to put the Frankencar back on.

He was willing explain the situation to me over the phone so I ordered the part from him. It arrived the next day. Disconnected battery. Took me 30 minutes to replace part (I was being extremely careful and was a first timer).

Problem fixed - no CEL.

Oh, and I saved $570.00
