Sorry man.

Try replacing them with AE lights so it won't happen again and you'll have peace of mind when taking your car out.

sorry to say this, but unfortunately HID theft is an everyday thing in Jersey.....apparently there is a big calling for stolen HIDs....

my only advice....try and find a garage for rent....when you go to malls or stores, park with nose facing outward and try to get as close parking as possible to the front

Thanks for concernings guys, Actually the cop told me to park the car nose facing wall and close to any object that will hinder those robbers to work with. so basically giev them no space to work on. bottom line, i'll keep ma maxima. yo, 2k2whitemaxi, ma incident is nothing compared to yours. jersey sucks huh?

yeah man its crazy because if i just want to take a girl to the movies or anything liek that i have to think twice and worry about when i come out if my lights are still going to be there.. Also i spoke to a cop buddy of mine and he said the HID problem is only getting worse.

yeah, they rise, doesn't mean you shouldn't keep insurance

And as for people who will be replacing their lights with 2000/01 lights... HIDs were one of a few reasons I bought an 02 over an 01 or 00. When it comes to my car I am very superficial. If mine get taken I will replace with OE

Sad but true reality of life here in NJ!! If it's not above $2500, fix it yourself.

Parking nose first will not help either.. Because you don't need a crowbar to pop off the hid's.. Put it this way, they can be popped off with no tools in like less then 30 secs a side..

not that I would know

Is there any way that you can have a vin or personal number etched on the lens itself to make it easy for you to identify your lights on a next man's ride. We all know that when you see something that you think is yours, it usually is.

Just asking

Do they take the sell the lights to other maxima owners, or do they just take the HID assembly.

If they sell them to max owners, there can only be so many that would be in the market for stollen HID's, surely you could find someone who has bought them and "extract info"

I would definatly etch somthing on your lights.

I helped my girl get a 2k2 not long ago and have been paronoid about the lights. I live in OKC and there is another 2k2 in her appartment complex so I am not too worried but I still look out the window a lot at night. I would give someone the lights just to be able to catch them doin it, but cool lights for a car aren't to great if you can't walk.

Has anyone had any success with alarms??

Yeah as I said before someone (Custommaxima/southwest autoworks)should look into the possibility of having the lens vin etched. I mean we open the lens to make other mods why not etch the damn lens. I know it is 4th of July weekend but lets see how many 2k2-2k3 lens are available for sale on ebay come Monday. There is none on sale right now

If I invent it you guys will force me to patent the idea and invention

Get the AE headlight housings + aftermarket HIDs, it'll be a lot safer and cost less than exact replacements from nissan.

I put one of those new Viper 790XV alarms in. Its pretty cool, if someone sets off the alarm the remote will tell you. It will even tell you if someone sets off the warn away. I got the sensitivity set to if you bump the lights the alarm goes off. Plus, I know of people who have had their grills ripped out and somehow popping the hood to steal the lights. But with the alarm if you lift up the hood the alarm goes off too. So HOPEFULLY....KNOCK ON WOOD... My car will be alright.

Our condo complex(in NJ) was hit several times. We had several Maximas in the parking lot and I think all of them were hit, including my girlfriend's car a few days ago. The alarm doesn't go off until it's too late and by then lights are already out and in thieves' hands. By the time I ran down from the 4th floor, they were gone.
About a month ago they came back 30 mins after they took out left light - yup, they collected the second light. This person had his or her lights stolen 3 times already, twice at our loc.
Does anyone know if it's legal to shoot someone (paintball gun, cranked to 700 feet per sec) if they are stealing something from your car AND are trespassing on private property. I have local police on speed-dial now as well. Unfortunately, they don't treat it as a very serious crime and it doesn't help that I live next to two major highways.
Also, what kind of lights can I get for my gf's car so they don't get stolen? Her dealer said they can't put any other lights in but I think people from this forum have done it. Where in Northern NJ can I take it to have cheaper lights put in?

My HIDs got ripped off in the Hilton parking lot back on friday the 13th.
It was $3206.65 to get it back in shape (which I had to pay the $500 deductible) From what the service manager at the dealer told me, there's not much you can do except try to deter them w/ an alarm system. I then had the Viper 790VX two way pager alarm installed w/ additional motion + knock sensors. So far so good... It cost $900 for the alarm w/ installation and the extras' but if you wave you hand in front of my HIDs the pager on my keychain starts going off... so maybe they'll just move on to the next max, who knows....
