"Interesting" article on NJ/NY HID theft
Got this from the Montclair Times website. Most of it is the same old BS and wasnt going to post it but a few tid-bits caught my attention
"So far in 2003, the Newark Police Department lists 170 cases of headlights stolen off Nissan Maximas, and 116 cases of Nissan Maxima thefts. In Montclair, there have been eight reported thefts of headlights and four stolen Nissan Maximas since February"
"Nissan North America is well aware of the problem New Jersey Nissan owners are having with the theft of factory-installed Xenon headlights. The local numbers grew to such large proportions that a summit was held earlier this year in Newark with several New Jersey police departments, including Newark and Montclair, and Nissan North America officials to address preventive measures. John Schilling, manager of corporate communications for Nissan North America in Washington D.C., said the company halted using halogen headlights in 2000 and redesigned the Maxima with standard-feature Xenon headlights “simply because we couldn’t get the halogen lights"."
"When we design these vehicles, it’s usually four or five years before the car comes out,” Schilling said. “It’s not something we can predict. It’s not something that we can attach these things better. Now we know it’s a problem, and we’re taking proactive steps to alleviate it."

what they should do is have a open recall and have the headlgiths made with a stronger material instead of plastic and bolt that onto the chassis and sh*T they can even use the same ballast and bulbs or watever jsut change the housing to be unstealable liek the G35 which are bloted onto the chassis .....but oh well thats never gonan ahppend so i guess ill jsut deal with ym lights getting stolen all the time
