how about Ditka vs. the Maxima... Ditka's legs are tied, and he's blindfolded and pointed around the wrong way ..
I say Ditka by 5.0 seconds in the 1/4-mile ..

Ditka vs. a stealth fighter, Ditka would take the plane down with his eyes closed and his hands strapped to a chair.

hahaha... Would you stop embarrassing me for gods sake! the 99 Max driver has been driving his car since he bought it, your 2k2 AUTO driver (me) drove it the first time since a year (and even that was brief!) so he (me) had no experience driving the car and thus could not have calculated the right speeds/rpms to manually shift the car. Give me the car for a longer time (half a day or so) and then see me try. Or better yet, get some ideas from the .org and learn to launch yours right, its not that hard. I just make it sound hard so that I get to drive it hehe..
Oh! and BTW Don't worry, I promise I won’t bring up the 96 HP Mirage incident! Muwuhahaha...

i dont think you need experience on how to drive an auto, no matter what you do, it wont make a HUGE differenceOriginally posted by GhettoMAX

With an auto VQ35 Max its as simple as flooring it and correcting the torque steer. Period!Quote:

Well yes, its very simple in auto, just put it in "D" and stomp on the accellerator. But for some stupid reason I thought Manually shifting it would make a difference. I let her rev up to just before redline before shifting up to 2nd and then 3rd. But this didnt do anything. The 99 max (5-SPD) kept pulling from the start til I just shutdown in second (not too long of a space to try further) I know that I couldve easily passed him around third but we never tried going that far. Maybe we shouldve done another run with leaving the tranny in "D" and then just let her do the shifting.

When I ran my 14.725 sec ET, I just brake torqued to 2k and set the tranny @ D3. (Ironically, I did have some wheelspin on that run) From what I've experienced, it doesnt seem beneficial to take the Max's VQ35 too close to redline (unlike a Honda motor where maximum HP is around redline).
In your instance, I would have thought YOU would have got the jump @ the start and pulled the rest of the way; not vice versa.

I would put my $ on the 2k2. I raced my buddy Krystian's 99 max multiple times and he had every single bolt on possible and still beat him 1 to 1 1/2 cars each time. But if you dont know how to launch your 2k2 auto then u r screwed because once u start spinning them tires bye bye 99. Its all about the launch in the 2k2 and 2k3 since they have so much more turque and FWDOriginally posted by Rjmax

I had a 1998 SE 5-speed and I now have an auto 2003. Launched properly, I'd guess that the 5-speed gets out of the hole a bit better but thereafter, its all about the 3.5L. I loved my 4th gen but the 3.5L pulls so much harder.
