Installation of Sub and amp: HELP
Hows it goin
I have a 2000 maxima GLE. What is the easiest or maybee the best, tell all, way to get two 12" subs(Alpine Type R) into the trunk of my vehicle. I will figure out everything about the box size and blah later. But i wanna know how to hook them up. I don't wanna get a aftermarket head unit because i think it would just look bad with the smooth dashboard that it has and the stereo is the bose system with cd player. Any idea, spill them out. I don't know anything about this but really want them. thank you

Somewhat open question, but this is what I think you are wanting to know.
Tap in to the rear speaker wires and connect these leads to a line level converter (to convert the high level output of the speaker leads to RCA low level input for the amp) If your amplifier has a high level input option, just tap into the rear speaker leads, and run the wires to the amp.
Hook the amp up to power, ground, switch lead, bolt it all down, and away you go.
I'm not an expert on these matters, but I had my SUB hooked up this way because I too liked the factory radio/cd combo. I'm running a single 12' JL 12w6 sub with JL amplifier. The speaker faces towards the rear of the car. It ROCKS!! And it takes up only ~ 1/5 of my trunk.
Also, if you want maximum perfomance, you-ll need a vent in your rear deck panel so the bass can get to the passenger cabin. If you hollow out the Bose sub and leave the grill, that should work (I think, as I had to cut a hole and put a cloth grill over it as I do not have the Bose system.) It will never be quite as loud as folding a rear seat down to let the bass thru, unless you vent the majority of your rear deck surface area.
This has been my experience. I hope it helps.
Good Luck
Jason
