installing a navigation system...need help

Hi all,

This is my first post! I hope someone here can help me. I'm going to be installing a navigation system, and I had a few questions. Does anyone know where to find the car injection computer is located? I need to get to the Speed detection circuit lead. TIA

Hi all, is there anyone that could help me with this? I'm at a total loss. I figure maybe someone that knows about the speed audio loudening control might be able to answer this question as it looks like some people have cars that have stereos that will increase the sound volume, the faster the car goes. Thanks for your help

The Speedo reading comes from the ECU, get a wiring diagram and look for the wire.

The speed sense wire is pink/blue wire on the speed gauges. Take out your gauge cluster and find the pink/blue wire.

You are looking for the speed sense wire for your nav right? It's the wire I stated above Take your gauge cluster out and find that wire. Gauge cluster= speedo, tach, temp, fuel the one you stare at when you drive. Do not turn car on if you disconnect the harnesses.

how do you plan on installing navigation if you don't know where the ECU is?

Actually, the nav system will work without it hooked up to the speed and reverse. It just won't be as accurate. It's already working fine right now. I just want to complete the job.

Could someone point me to where I could find the wiring diagram? I also need to find out which wire goes to the reverse.

I don't have a reverse wire in my tech list. I am in the process of making it to put on the org.

I recommend this new device that Garmin came out. It's called the "IQue 3600" It's a color PDA with a GPS built in that has the latest Palm OS. Looks VERY nice.

hey thats not bad! and for $550 which is reasonable considering that you could take it anywhere and its not fixed to any car!

Yeah, When the price drops to about 400-450 (give it 2 more months), I'll get one. Reviews said that it would last 3 hours with the GPS on. About time they do something useful with pdas. lol
