Exhaust Noise

I sure do wish that Nissan would have made the Maxima sound somewhat like the 350Z. I heard one "get on it" the other day and all I have to say is WOW. Im loving their exhaust note. Why didnt they make the Maxima sound somewhat like that. I know its a Sedan but an SE also happens to be a Sport-Sedan and it needs a meaner exhaust note. Is anyone else dissatisfied with their exhaust note? And who agrees with me?

people that want that buy aftermarket mufflers. We have a few to choose from. I'm not so much concerned about the noise my car makes... What i've heard though is the flow master does make a satisfying non-ricey sound as you said. Also powertech is popular, and the greddy catback (evo). Cattman makes a good one too.

Personally, all i have on now is a wackspeed b-pipe with no resonator. It adds a little noise, which doesn't exactly excite me, but it adds a few horses (i guess). It's mandrel bent and beats the stock piece.

I agree with the fact that you might like a different sound
but i disagree that they should have made it sound different
have you ever heard a 5-series bmw take off ?
thay are quiet and they are fast
people looking for sedans look for quiet
people looking for sports cars look for proformance sound

yeah...but it is a sports sedan...not just a sedan....they should have made the SE sporty sounding and then made the GXE and GLE quiet

davidme;
you may be bombared by rice trolls that beg to differ
As I always say, whatever floats your boat... If an exhaust note is inevitable (A big loud, mean engine in alot of older cars) some are more pleasant then others. I happen to think the intake alone does enough, it allows you to hear the engine, and it doesn't really take away from the car's humble, understated sedan status.... A deep thick burble of a v8 in a german sedan is a rare thing, and those cars do get riced out, or modified (the pc term for rice). I happen to like the sound of the injen, at throttle it's noticed, at normal driving it's discrete and apropriate.

Being 40 years old, I prefer quiet performance and I want to be able to hear my Stillen intake. I like the stock muffler but wish it had slightly bigger chrome outlets.
