Put on new tires--AWESOME

Hey all,
I just wanted to share my experience with these new tires I just put on. I haven't had time to drive them too much--one week, but they are awesome. They are Continental Contiextremecontacts. I have a 2000 max and just replaced my Crapenzas and I can't tell you how different my car feels. I have had a chance to drive in the rain and it is night and day. After a lot of careful research, I decided on these tires and here's why.
First of all as you all know, the OEM tire size is 225/50/17. There are not a lot of choices for this size and I didn't want to spend the money for the Pilot A/S sport but wanted a good all season tire as I live in Chicago. These Continentals are new tires this year and I had a chance to read the reviews on Tire Rack. I encourage anyone shopping for tires to look at the survey results and READ the user reviews for this tire. They actually rate higher than the Pilot's. These tires are Ultra High Performance and all season. These tires are an absolute steal for the money. You should see all of the tread on them. I went with the 235/45/17 size and they work beautifly. No speedometer mess-up or anything like that. They look really sharp and are a little wider. Tire rack sells them for $110, but I went with Discount tire so I could have them installed and get lifetime rotation, etc, etc. I paid $550 out the door. I called several places and got quotes up to $800. The tires apparently are on national backorder, but they found a set in Ohio for me. I know tire rack has them in stock. These tires just seem to dig into the concrete and ride so much quieter than the Potenza's. I feel like I'm driving a new car. Sorry for rambling, but I just wanted to tell you all about these great tires for the money.

Actually, truth be told, if I had put my riding mower tires on the car back when I had the RE92's, it would have been an improvement!!!

Anyhow, congrats on ditching the death donuts and enjoy!!

Cool, I have the old , out of date and not made anymore Bridgestone Potenza's RE92 on my 2003 Maxima 6 speed and when it rains forget about it. I feel like I am on ice with them. If the winter is anything like last here in New Jersey I'll never make it more then 5 feet. SO I have been doing research on tires and well got so confused. Time after time I compared, looked and went store to store seeing what I should get. I was thinking of the Pilot A/S but like you said, Big Money. It would have cost me close to $900 to get them and have them installed. I believe you just made up my mind to get the Continental ones!!!!!! Do you have any photos of them on your car? Would love to see how they look. I am stuck with the polished Aluminum 17/7" rims so I can only get the OEM sized ones or 235/50/17's Anyways, take a look at my home page and see what you think of my ride!!!!

Take a look at the pic on Tire Rack. I don't have any pics of them on, but I could get one if you want. The pics on Tire Rack don't do these justice. They have this "shark fin" technology that has all of this tread everywhere. They look really sweet.

MANY of us have put new tires on without going to the expense of rims as well.

The new Bridgestones are suppose to be sweet but after having the old ones on my new car I will never go back to Bridgestones!!!!! I want the Continental's as they are at a decent price and look hot. Its so hard to get tires for the MAX, nissan loves to play the tire game thats for sure!!!! Check out the link I posted , its for Interior Trim Kits for the max, Everything is half price. I just got a brushed aluminum kit, covers everything including the light and sunglass holder area on the ceiling.

How do you know this for sure?
Did you run a GPS test/radar after you put them on?
That's my main concern about varying from the OEM size.

The 235/45/17's are not safe on the vehicle as they fall out of the 3% safety range. That size tire is for a rim that measures 7,5 and not 7.

Dont forget the cooper lifeline sle, 55K treadwear warranty, and 225/50/17 for $100 each!

I have them and they are great in the snow and rain as well.

Thank you jjs. This size tire is safe and I was told this at numerous locations and on tire rack. I also did the research on the same site that jjs posted to see if this would work. Don't go with them if you don't feel comfortable. These tires are great though.

I just put the Yokohama AVS ES100 225/45/ZR17's on my stock SE rims, and so far love them, they are so much better than the craptenza's! They are not noisy at all, corner much better, but, I haven't been in the rain with them yet, so am not sure about that. I went with this size since my Maxspeed springs are on the way, and they definetly fit the 7.0" rim

I just got some mastercraft avenger LSR (also made by cooper) 225-50-17's for $110 mounted/balanced. They are a million times better than the potenza's. Nice, cheap alternative to the expensive stuff.

Those AVS ES100 are not for winter though, right?

I must be one of the lucky people to get lots of milage out fo my Potenzas. Suck in the rain, but dry it seems great to me. I got 64,000 miles on them and I'm not even at the wear line yet. But I'll be looking into tires soon.

I haven't had the Yokohama's except for a few days, so I haven't had them in the rain yet, but, I didn't need an all season or winter tire because of the weather here, I love them so far though.
