Please help w/ Injen CAI insatll

Just got an Injen CAI with the heat/water shield. I'm fine with the install of the CAIwhich way does the heat shield go . Common sense would say that the open end should face the engine to block any heat/water coming through the radiator/front of car. Any thoughts. Thanks for the help.

The open end of the shield towards the front of the car? What about rain and the heat form the radiator?
