Just installed my stillen pop charger

Installed my stillen pop charger that i got from jim rome nissan (https://maxima.org/forums/showthread...hreadid=243862) at a great price. Gives a nice throaty sound at 3000rpms and above, and a cool whistle around 2000-3000rpm. It does feel a little slugish on the low end but it is very hot and very very humid today, and i'm pretty sure my car would feel the same today with the stock intake. Throttle response is improved overall and it feels to pull harder at the higher end of the rpm band. I also kept the factory air track and was able to conjure up a brace to secure it.

I'm curious, is that nothing more than a K&N cone filter jammed onto the intake tube?

Is that what Stillen advertises as it's HI FLOW intake on the
web site and in their catalogue? I just ordered the Stillen
Cold Air box for my 2003 Infiniti G35. When it arrived,
I discovered the Stillen HI FLOW intake for my 2000 Maxima!
I considered keeping it and putting it on our 2000 Max,
but I don't want to spend $450 for 2 intakes from Stillen
in 1 week. Fed EX just picked it up for return. I think
Stillen is crooked, the old bait and switch, maybe he will
buy both? NFW

From what i take it it is a k and n filter rebadge, but it is not just jammed onto the filter. the stillen comes with a machined maf adapter that smooths the airflow going to maf. looked pretty high quality to me. And the kit also came with mount to keep the heavy filter and maf adapter in place. keeps it from rubbing. i remember a post with someone's frankencar rubbing a hole in an a/c line.

btw the maf adapter is really a lot bigger then what the picture makes it out to be.

The velocity atack helps smooth and straighten out airflow on its way to the throttle body. The Stillen filter is huge. Much bigger than any K&N style filter I've seen.

Funny, my invoice stated that the HI FLOW intake was $175, billed
$260. Of course it was for a 2000 Maxima. Maybe they are cheaper
for newer Maximas??? LOL

Lucky you! I did not know you could buy Stillen stuff
cheaper from 3rd party vendors. Maybe I paid too much
for G35 CAI
