Key code missing!
Key code missing!
I brought my 00 Max to Nissan Service to get a key made. The service tech told me the engine key code for my max is missing from their database and they can't program the key.
So I called Nissan directly and sure enough the cust rep tells me the code for my car is missing. The dealer tells me the only thing they can do is replace the ignition system for $500.
Anyone ever run across this? Do I have any other options other than paying $500 for new keys?

I have seen information online for reprogramming the key to the car and some local lock smiths can do that. Do a web search on "Nissan transponder key" and read around....I cannot remember the link but one key vendor sites had a locator link to get keys programmed by thier approved programmer...
