problem rolling windows down with remote

I have an 03 GLE. 90% of the time I try to roll down the windows with the remote, they only go down about 5 inches. Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know if it can be corrected?

Thanks.

Mine does the same thing. If you hold it down again, it will go down all the way. I *think* the only time it will go down all the way on the 1st try if if you were in the car like an hour before. I read that somewhere, or maybe i'm just imagining things?

Mine open about three inches. I noticed that this only happens when I press the unlock button more than 10 feet away from my car. If I'm right next to it then there is no problem. In my case I think it is because the car and the remote lose radio contact (remote battery may be going bad.)

I have the same thing happen on my 03 SE. The windows roll down a couple inches, and then you have to hold down the unlock button again for them to go down all the way.

Damn windows

Mine does the same, with both remotes. Thought maybe I was pressing the button wrong. I will have to see about the 1 hour thing and see if they go down. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I haven't had a problem with my remote lowering the windows.

I work on the second floor and from my window I can see my car, and when its gets close to the end of the business day, I aim my remote at my car and lower the windows.

I know that if I only press and hold the fob once, that the windows will only go down a few inches, but when I press and hold the fob down again, the windows will continue going all the way down, as long as I am holding the button down.

I am not too sure about the one hour thing, because I rarely take a lunch, and my car sits from the time its parked till the time I get in it for a good nine hours plus, and I roll mine down almost everyday, (because of the heat here).

I suspect a weak battery. SAme happens with the TV remote. I can tell the remote batteries are weak when I push and maintain the volume down button. After 2 seconds, the volume does not go down. The voltage of the battery gets too low. I wait a few seconds, then I press again.

I just tried second remote (never been used before.) Still get the same result. However, I now noticed what other people said above, i.e. if I try to open the windows shortly after I use my car there is no porblem no matter how far I am.

Could it be a part of user progamable options? Just like the one minute thing which allows you to operate windows a minute after you turn off your car.

unlock all the doors by pressing button twice... then press again once.. then hold.... windows will go down all the way. or if you open any door then shut it ... then hold it it goes down... thats how mine works... with the doors locked then i press on it once... and hold it goes down a lil bit, next time try to unlock all doors then hold. thats how i do it. usually do it about 10 ft or so from the car.

Thanks.
Do a search - there's a thread on this. IIRC, it's the amount of time the car has been sitting.

It's a security issue I would assume.
