Reprogrammed ECU = Power Loss???

My Nissan dealer reprogrammed my ECU last week as described in the TSB. Now it seems like I've lost some horsepower. My seat of the pants dyno says 5-10. The difference is above 4000 RPMs. The car used to pull nicely up to that point, then once it got to 4k it would just rip all the way to 6k. Now there really isn't a notable transition - the pull remains constant all the way to around 5k. There's no more jump at 4k and after 5k it seems to fall on its face. It doesn't even sound the same (more tame).

Anybody else experience this? Better yet, anybody ever dyno before and after?

Thanks.

sounds like a VIAS problem... check all your vacuum lines to and from the VIAS solenoid control located on the right side of the engine (small black box)

I agree....did they get under the hood?

Probably knocked one of the hoses off if they did.

Don't know the TSB number. It may be on my receipt. I can look it up later and post it. I had them looking at the motor mounts because of excessive drivetrain movement on/off throttle and this was their solution. I didn't seem to have any of the problems people have reported that require an ECU fix.

Looked quickly for the VIAS solenoid, couldn't specifically find it. I did find a hose that's about 1/2 inch outer diameter that sticks up from under the air intake. Specifically, its in front of and underneath what looks like the MAF. The hose is curved like a hook facing back toward the firewall and ends without being connected to anything. I can't find where it would have been connected in the first place either. Does this thing belong there?

I'm pretty sure they would perform the "fuel-cut" TSB for those symptoms, but find out if you can so I can see if they have a "newer" version then I got.

Yeah...I think it's a tranny breather or something.

Does it have divits out of it, like a golf ball? If so, that's normal.

I took a picture of the hose and posted it here:

Also, forgot to mention that the car is an '03 6-speed.

Yeah...normal.

BTW...UMD pointed out we thought you had a 2K, so ignore all the VIAS stuff.
