Another point to bring up 00s have EGR, where 01s do not have EGR. So if you try using a 01 ECU in a 00 you will get a weird check engine light- dont ask me, I tried using a V rated no speed limiter ECU in my 01 and got all kinds of weird codes. I just hope they make the ECU, it don't take 4 years to get mine back- like JWT. I'm still going FI on my car, but the ECU would be nice to have.

Larrio, you feel any difference in your Beta testing ? or is yours just RPMs and speed limiter removal modifications-only ?

I have the final version already, the one without the stupid p0420 tsb code. It "pulls" harders than the beta version, but we all know that is not accurate. It is tuned fuel maps, speed limiter removal, raised rev limit, advanced timing

i'm slapping on a y-pipe and full exhaust within the next two weeks and heading out to the dyno. I will update then.

****, I didnt realize 01s didnt have egr. I was really hoping I would be able to use a 01 5spd ecu in my 00 and have it reflashed, especially since i have a 01 5spd tranny. What codes did you pull when you used the v-rated ecu? I wonder if TS could fix that somehow so you could use a reflashed 01 ECU in a 2000. I have a spare 01 ECU and live by TS if they ever need a guinea pig.

it would be hard, although not impossible for TS to decode/decipher EGR information in the ECU... let alone delete it all together so you won't throw codes. Probably take some more research and talks with blackbirdvq and icey2k1

JWT is able to program 95-97 200SX SE-Rs ECU's for no EGR or even no rear cat. If JWT can figure out that ECU, and can't do the 01+ cars... and TS can, I think they should have a solution as far as EGR codes go.

I'm a few minutes away from TechnoSquare, I have all the basica bolt ons, I'm ready to buy headers and the ECU reflash, but my car is a ****ing 2000... All I can say is I hope they work it out so I can put a 2k1 ECU in my 2k and make it work with the reflash. I have a 2k1 ECU in hand and I am free every single Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

TS is only open on weekdays, which is a pain.

I'm iffy on the header program as Tadashi was explaining it gets really tricky with our ECUs. Hence they stopped making the 02 maxima headers program. Something about the 02 readings being off because all the locations are different and reduction of the precats

i'm confident a mofidifed IM, y-pipe, full exhaust, lightened flywheel should get this show on the road

I went to TS on a Weekday (Friday) and they were open...

I also got the 2002 Flash for my Max - and I have headers...

From talking with Tadashi, I believe they don't offer a flash for 02/03's with the $teallin headers - because of the O2 sensor simulator.

He said that the O2 sensor simulators didn't work 100% the same as a real O2 sensor does, so their flash wasn't able to work correctly.

Larry meant they are ONLY open on weekdays not weekends.

Tadashi is probably fighting the CVTC on the 2K2+, we don't have that, so headers shouldn't be difficult.

Tadashi better make the TS Flash work with the cattman headers!!!
I just got the complete cattman exhaust system (headers + catback) installing them this sunday and was looking forward to having my ECU flashed by TS soon after.

Looks like it worked for Hnda Etr but then again he has a 2002. Not sure how much of a difference that makes. I'll make an appointment with TS once the install is done to see what they can do.

Thanks Larrio/Icy2k1 for not giving up on TS and making it work. Us 2k1's can finally rejoice! It's been a looooooong time coming.

Looks like a 5spd.

Are you sure you are going to install them this weekend? If so, lets get you in next week.

It most definitely is a 5 speed!

The plan is to install them this Sunday. But nothing is for sure. Once I have them on and make sure that everything works properly I'll give TS a call and schedule an appointment.

This all started with a simple intake mod...now i have all these bolt-ons. The mod-bug is very contagious....

No prob... all he's gotta do is call or email my buddy Tony (the nissan master tech) and schedule a time for tony to do the install...

tony's in hacienda heights, so it's not THAT far from irvine...

the hardest part of the job, as you know, is extending the harnesses for the O2 sensors.... also, don't forget that a 2nd O2 sensor bung will have to be welded in and a plug for the EGR valve is needed.

Cattman knows which part is needed to plug the EGR valve, so make sure to ask him for it... I seem to remember that he was going to keep some in stock for the 02/03 guys, but can't be sure...

you can pm me for tony's number or email him at thcartagena@adelphia.net - just tell him hnda etr sent you

OK Ice,

I hate to ask again, because I think I already know the answer, but do you think that there is the SLIGHTEST possibility of TS making a 2000 fed spec 5spd ecu? I know that I represent the smallest portion of those polled, therefore of least importance, but I would like to know if I should just go ahead and give up hope or not. Thanks again to everyone who has put forth so much effort on this project.

Lemme know when it will be all set n ready to ship out the ECU to TS for a reflash. I pretty much have hall the bolt ons but cams- headers, exhaust, no cats, PR intake, UDP, fidanza, S-AFCII, advanced timing...etc. I'ma do my cams as soon as Tomei has more avalible I can't live with 220 deg cams where 270s are sooooooo sweet It iwll make the Max idle like it should and make for awesome NA or turbo high end power.

Is there a difference in ECU's between the 2001 models and the 2001 anniversary edition with Technosquare, or is it the same???

ECU is different on the AE models from the other ones- thats how they really got the extra 7HP-which I would like to see dyno charts for. The coding is pretty similar to normal 01 ECU, so TS should have the ECU for a AE Maxima too.

Larrio means that the test ECU that TS has made, was made based on his AE 5sp. He currently is running the test ECU from TS.
The Auto one, If it is ever made, will be based on my AE auto ECU.

Basically, buying the TS ECU means you now have an AE ECU. The reflash was copied from an AE and tweaked to improve AFR and timing, so *IF* the difference from a regular "222hp" to an AE "227hp" was in the ECU tuning, you would now have "227hp" plus whatever TS enhancements. This was my MAIN focus from the beginning to eliminate any non-AE vs. AE debate.

Another advantage Danny Lee pointed out was that the AEs are the latest production 2001s, so they have the latest Nissan software updates with all the "bugs" worked out. However, Larry also had the notorious P0420 cat efficiency TSB update, which will be included saving those of us that haven't had it hopefully from having to put up with dealer BS on paying for 02-sensors and then the reflash.

You guys need to wait until I get my ECU from Tadashi once he says it is ready. I will then do back-to-back runs on the dyno with my stock vs. TS reflashed ECU to see what improvements TS really made. All in all though, I'd still buy TS's reflash for the increased revlimiter and to get the latest ECU improvements from Nissan.
