chevron techron

Yesterday i went to the auto place and saw the chevron with techron fuel injector cleaner. They had a smaller bottle that treated up to 12 gallons and a larger bottle that treated up to 20 gallons for trucks and suv's. I bought the larger one. Will this be too much and if it is, should i just dump in some of the bottle?

you've got an 18.5 gallon tank so the 12oz wont be strong enough while the larger will treat up to 20. like maximaman777 said, just dump it in and fill it up.

You might as well look at your TB as well to see if there is any build up and clean if needed.

Maximaman777, is getting an engine flush at quick lube or something the same as cleaning the throttle body??

Nope, an engine flush cleans out the sludge inside the engine, a fuel induction service cleans out the whole fuel system and I think they clean the throttle body and the intake manifold, I did a fuel induction on my 98 altima a few years ago and the difference was night and day

I disagree UNLESS you strictly use Chevron gas.

OMFG, that thing is an addictive and a concentrate! You should never put that much in a tank.

I always use Chevron 91 octane (no 92/93 here, damn it) and I put the smaller 12 oz bottle every 5k miles.

No wonder you make statments like this. Didn't anyone tell you that huffing was really bad for you, and to be addicted to the stuff...

At 18.5 gallons the larger bottle for 20 gallons will be fine.

Carbon deposits act like a sponge, when you start the car up they will soak up some of the gas that should be used. This we lean out the car for a momnet and cause knocking and pining. That's part of the reason some older cars run real ruff.
With newer cars cars it's more subtle. Anyway the more build up you have the worse the car will run.

I'd rather have carbon deposits than running my car with a large amount of fuel injector fluid in my tank.

Oh I get it now. You've gotta save that extra ounce of the addictive Techron fuel injector cleaner for huffing
