Probably will be a problem, my max has almost 38k miles on it, not under warranty anymore. Is there any TSB, i'll try a search but I didn't know we had access anymore. Thanks guys, Chris

Everyday i hear "my left speakers not working" i have the same problem with my 2k3... with my previous 2k2 maxima had the same problem i did bring it to my dealer... and they said "everything alright now.. we fixed it" i was happy... but a few days later i had the same fuc*ing problem... I dont know what else can i do... I think only 2k2-2k3 they have this problem and also i think that is time for "RECALL"... I hate all nissan dealers in my state... i have one more dealer in my mind... so will see...

I have an 02 and didn't have a problem for the longest time. Now it happens more time than not.I'm not in a big hurry to bring in to the dealer for fear of some tech scratching something up or breaking something trying to get it out.

Does anybody know how to get this problem to reliably re-occur? I was already to take my car into Nissan on Friday when it stopped happening in the parking lot. Three days later and its still not happening. My concern is that I had my Bose CD unit replaced earlier this year when the CD mechanism was making a whirring noise. I'm hesitant that they won't replace it without hearing the problem (the TSB specifically states to verify the incident). I'm certain this is the problem but I hate wasting my own (or the dealer's) time. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if they need to verify it (although it says they should). I have had my AU replaced twice already and I am going in later this week for another one (Great, now I am on my 4th unit....).

I have a 2k3 SE and my question is this: is it only the Bose 6CD changer that has this problem or is it all CD player options (i.e. standard, BOSE in dash 6CD Changer, and BOSE Navigation option)? Because if it only happens to the in dash CD changer, I would be willing to upgrade to the NAV system.

But either way this is crazy that we all (for the most part) have been having this problem and all Nissan does is give us another P.O.S. replacement.....

I've been thinking the same thing as you. It seems like the NAV unit makes it easier to replace a defective CD player in the future. Although I'm sure the cost of labor, even if you can get the NAV at a discount, would probably rival getting a nice aftermarket system.

I had head unit replaced last week because of the exact same problem. Seems that certain units are defective. I would only have loss of sound when playing a CD. Tape and radio would work fine when I switched right over. So far it's working fine but I did notice a "louder" whir when the cd is first inserted. Still debating on whether I will mention it or worry about my paint problem first.

I went to the dealership today and they informed me that there is no way to get a NAV system put into a car that was not originally equipped with one. They told me that Nissan does not make a dealer installed NAV package. Any truth to this or do they just not want to spend the time on rewiring a good part of the car?

Oh yea, I also put in an order for yet another AU... So this will be the 4th I have had in my car since I bough it about one year ago.
