I just got new tires and although they do pull better while laying rubber is there a different way to drive in which I can floor it and not squak the tires and lay rubber? How do all you track guys do it?

You auto or stickshift??

On Auto, put it in drive and hold brake/gas togather at about 2K RPM and let it rip
On Manual, its all about how good you are with clutch

To avoid wheelspin with the auto - which worsens your et's - you should b-torque to about 1700 rpm, come off the brake completely, and ease the throttle until 30 mph -depends on weather and road/track conditions- then hammer it, stab the throttle. Once you get used to your new tires, and get this down pat, you will be able to get out of the hole a lot quicker, and wheelspin wont be an issue. Anybody can b-torque an auto and get tons of rubber, it just takes a patient right foot in order to get out quicker.

I just got my Sumitomo HTR's mounted btw, and holy s**t ! They are 10X btr than the Potenza's. Getting out of the hole it is such a huge difference, these things stick like crazy, and I don't mind the rain now ! The wet traction is a marked improvement compared to the Craptenzas.

Well I am going to have to wait to break the tires in then cause I dont want to do this with less than 200 miles on them lol. I just hate squaking them everytime off the line.
And why is it that when I brake stand the car wont go past 2k rpm? Is there a way to fix that?
Thanks guys, good advice as always minus limsandy

what about?

Anyone squeak their tires when changing from 1st to 2nd gear?

It seems to happen to me quite alot when I drop the clutch after moving into 2nd gear.....tho I really like the sound of it....
I'm using 245 contiextreme contacts....are they really bad tires or something???
Driving alot more conservative now, but someones alone on the road at nite, just had to squeak at start and 2nd gear.....just to feel the power of the max.

Check tire pressures? (>32psi tends to handle crappy with my stock Blowtenzas...)

Hell yeah I chirp going into 2nd and a few times going into 3rd as well. I think as long as you're fully releasing the clutch it's ok
