Thinking of buying 2k-2k2 maxima, have questions

Hi, as the title suggests, I am thinking of purchasing a 2k-2k2 maxima. I know the question has been asked before, but I just wanted to get a running tally here in this post.

I have gone through the search and know of some of the problems that the 5th gen maximas can have: bad ignition coils, some transmission problems, warped rotors, paint chips, MAFs problems.

What I would like to know is there anything else I should know before purchasing a car (problem-wise or just knowledge and facts), or is there any more details you could give on the noted problems.

Also, besides the obvious differences between 2k1 and 2k2, are there any other changes between years that could (or should) sway my choice of cars. My wife will mainly drive this car for her commute, so stop-and-go traffic is involved; hence she would like an automatic. And sadly for most, while I know this is a performance driven site, we are going to try to keep the car stock.

Thanks

the biggest difference to me is the hp difference. the 2k2-2k3 have 255hp and the 2k-2k1 have 222hp. the 2k2-3 also have hid's. those are the biggest differences that made me go with the 2k2 and soon to be 2k3...

Get a 2k2-2k3 you will love it. Its a joy to drive my car on the highway everyday. quick, responsive, and it's a sedan with *****!!! Only thing I don't like about it is poor tires so upgrade, poor turning radius, not the best paint so check for paint chips, and short factory warantty
(3 year 36,000miles) So get an extendend warantty.
Good Luck, and if you have anymore question feel free to PM me.

P.S. if you want the better smoother ride go with a GLE.
if you want a sporty stiffer ride go with the SE

Get the 02 even though you guys arent performance oriented, it has alot more features standard the the 01 and if you opt for options it has way more than an 01 loaded.

ya i'd definatly go for the 2k2. every year things get a little more refined, usually, and the 3.5 engine is awsome

Thanks for the responses guys. I myself would like the increased power of the 2k2, but my wife doesn't care, which is funny since the car we are getting ride of to get this is a modded 99 Mustang Cobra that she says she loves to drive because of the power. She has already driven a 2k2 GLE, and for her, that's good enough powerwise. She just wants a comfortable ride some good options. She leaning toward a 2k-2k1 GLE because they can be had for cheap right now here in Houston, while the 2k2s seem to be 3-4k more.
