Anyone changed tails because HID's were stolen?

Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago my HID's were stolen in Queens, NYC. I had the body shop install halogens into my '03 SE, but my tails are still clear. Has anyone had the experience that their headlights were stolen or damaged again because thieves saw their '02 or '03 tails and started ripping out the headlights before they realized they weren't HID's?
Basically I'm a little concerned about moronic thieves who aren't sure what they're stealing.

I read a how to in the sticky up top about painting my tails, but i was wondering if it's worth it to do it, or if it is, should I let a body guy do it.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Don't worry about it, thieves know what they're looking for. I'm sure they also know that some 2k2-3 owners have swapped to halogens b/c of theft. BTW, where in Queens?

I switched mine, I couldn't deal with being nervous everytime I parked even after I had the AE headlights. It adds to the Sleeper Status also, I like it. Everyone thinks its a 2000-2001 until they see the 6spd.
