Magnaflow Droning prob!

I recently got a custom catback exhaust with a magnaflow straight through muffler on my 2k2 auto max. I have no resonator anymore, and it drones a lot from 2000-2500rpm. The man there said to drive at least 1000 miles to let the pipes "carbonize" or someting on the inside because they're still new. And if that doesnt work, he said they can put on a "magpack" resonator. But he can't guarantee it will get rid of the droning or quieten it down. What should i do to get rid of the droning?? What resonators will work? Please help!!

I would think think that the stock resonator would be mellow. I am sure you would still have a drone but just not as loud. I left mine in place and I am happy with the note.

Well the muffler shop removed all the stock components, including the resonator and old muffler. Im unsure if they still have them or not...would u recommend any resonators? or should i just get a completely new muffler to get rid of the drone

Why did you let them keep the stock muffler and resonater?

Check your PMs.

Go get a 22 inch " Allied " brand resonator...I did it for mine before and it worked very well taking the edge off...it is 4 inches longer than stock from what I had already.

$100 muffler is costing you more than u thought-
go back to stock and get a intermediate pipe+resonator + stock muffler= no drone at all

or try to get your stock piping(res) back

What do you expect - a straight through muffler with no resonator is the loudest combination on any car, short of running no exhaust at all.
