I decided to get the old 510 back into shape and ran it last weekend.
This gives you guys an idea how long I have been a Nissan/Datsun enthustiast

On a 2.2 mile track the 510 was about 19 seconds faster than the Maxima per lap. For those who have roadraced, that is HUGE!
Rafe: It is competitive in the San Francisco region. Absolutely it is set up properly

oooohhhh..what memories!!
When I was active in rallying (1974-1979) I ran a modded 510.....full factory FIA suspension, the dual Mikunis...five speed conversion, the works. It ws painted red, white and blue in the BRE (Brock Racing Enterprises) scheme.
Best year was 1978 where we finished third in the Caribbean rally circuit....I actually beat John Buffum in two of the longest special stages in one of the events in Puerto Rico in 1978 -dat was fun.
I wrapped it around a huge mango tree in the Dominican Republic in early 1979 and that was the end of my semi-pro (meaning, non-Time/Speed/Distance) rally career...
ahhh well, it was fun while it lasted...
