Lamborghini-style doors.. question.

I was at a car show recently and saw some cars with Lamborghini style doors (the ones that flip upwards instead of outwards like 99% of cars). I was wondering how much a conversion like that would cost, and if anyone knows of someone who has already done this. Thanks.

You looking at about $2000 in labor at least and parts. Well the parts is not much, its all about skill in making the door coming out a bit and then go straight up. This is not something you take lightly. A normal body shop cant do this at all, you need someone who has done this MANY MANY times to try this on a maxima.

Not to mention it looks slightly odd that you only got two doors going up and the rear ones sitting there? Going to look odd for sure.

Hmm, I was thinking all four doors, obviously. That number you threw up, is this a fact, or just a really good guess? In either case, it looks like something I couldn't afford, if it truly would be that much money.

I could see it now....the person in the back opens their door be4 you and as your about to make your way out your stuck inside
Either that of if the timing is just right your gonna get wacked with a door The # he threw was probably a a good guess but dont quote me on it. Id personally pass, even if I had an extra $4K+ sitting around, im sure I could find something better to spend it on. Just my .02

Haha, I just imagined that happening - how craptastic, unless it was engineered differently somehow. Yeah, this isn't such a great idea, mostly because of the price for now. Bah.. back to contemplating rims..

Not that I'd spend $$ on it, but since you're talking about it...what about suicide lamborghini style doors? The front doors swing up and towards the front, the rear doors swing up and towards the back.

They sell kits to make your doors do that. The kit is cheap, the install is the hard part. I think if you look on eBay you can find the kits. They are usually advertised for Preludes and other sport compact 2 door cars.

The rear would about 2x more than the front because A) the rear door has almost no area on the end to make it suicide B) you will need to strengthen the hell out of the hinge to make then rear suicide lambo door.

Theres a conversion kit on the market for this mod. I friend of mine did it on his Acura which is a coupe. He told me the kit was about $1300. So figure about $2600 if you want to do it for a Max on all four doors.

you wouldnt have to worry about getting smacked with the rear door if it opened the other way. Think RX8 doors, except with the scissor style opening.
