Intake caused sluggish performance

I installed my Stillen intake last week and every since then my performance has gone down hill!!!

I step on the gas and the car just has **** poor power

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also I ordered the frankencar midpipe will this help?

I put my stock back in and everything is OK but I want to be able to use my intake

thanks

Ummmmm. As far as I know, Stillen intake should give you little more hp. It's not noticeably different though.

you should notice better pull at higher rpms but bottom end can suffere since its taking warm air from under the hood instead of drawing cool air like oem or a true cai. my setup was pretty sluggish in the summer but now thats cooler temps are here, it feels great again.

I went with a moddified version of the GAB "Getto Air Box". So far I like it best. I don't like short ram WAI on a Maxima. The hot air makes it loose power when in traffic or stop lights etc.

most any intake will theorically cause a loss in low end power - by the nature of the way it works. intakes reduce back pressure - resulting in greater high end power and often a slight loss of low end.

Ok you say slight but I am talking huge decrease!!!!!

when WOT the car just bogs down and RPM's go up and nothing!!!!!

Only happens with stillen can put OEM air box back on and everything is cool!

Did you disconnect your battery when you installed your intake? If not, your computer is probably confused and could easliy be the root of your poor performance. I had the JWT intake (same as Stillen) and had no noticeable problems. Disconnect your negative terminal and let the ECU reset itself. Start it back up and let it idle for 5-10min. It should be noticeably better.

Sure there's no leak past the MAF sensor? (i.e. the crankcase breather, the hose clamps, etc.)... that would cause very flaky performance... recheck all hoses and hose clamps for proper sealing of the intake piping.

Or maybe the intake itself has a small leak in it?
