I love my 2001 maxima (20th ed, auto) but it's been giving me problems lately. I've been hearing knocking noises coming from the front when I turn the wheel ( at parking lot speeds).
Also, whenever I drive off after starting the car, i hear a small scrapping noise coming from the front wheel area. Doesn't happen when i stop and go..only if i start the car and then drive off....anyone seen anything similar?

this could also be an upper strut bearing.

 

Could the scraping noise ( which happens for a brief second, be something to do with the ABS?
