Steering wheel control lights?

I drove my wifes 2003 SE for the frist time after dark last night and I noticed that the cruise control and radio control lights on the steering wheel were not on. Are those lights illuminated? If so, where do I replace the fuse (since none were working I figured it was a fuse).

If there is no illumination on the steering wheel, why would Nissan do that? Seems to be kind of important if you are wanting to use the cruise and can't see it at night.

Thanks for the help

Thats why the buttons are laid out the way they are, so that you can use them by feel.

In other words, there is no light on those buttons.

It would have just seem fitting if they would have illuminated those buttons. Oh well, looks like I need to tell her that I need to drive it more often so I can get used to the buttons

Not to mention that like most other radios and buttons on cars, drivers usually get so acustomed to there placement, that touch is quicker than look...

I thought the same thing when I first got the car. I was thinking why didn't they light these things up? But I got used to it and like everyone said, you just learn what button does what.

Its not just the maxima's, the sentra's arent lit either, the 03 Sentra GXE has the same buttons as the 01 maxima GLE. It probably adds another harness they didnt want to put in it. BTW, does anyone know where to get the little illuminated ring for around the ignition?

Lighting the steering wheel controls would be nice, but as someone else said, they would get distracting at night. It didn't take me long to get to know the functions by feel and placement. On another note, the LED in the domelight idea is great! Honda, Acura, and Audi use these. Such a nice little touch. I guess one of those super bright LEDs mounted up there would do the trick.

Steering Wheel ilumination and horn not working

Hi I have a 2007 Maxima 2007 and all buttons on steering wheel work after replacing the clock spring but Horn and illumination on steering wheel don't work.

Can someone let me know if its the Clock spring or a bad connection?

Thanks,

Augie C

You posted this in the wrong area, your car isn't a 5th gen, and it's in a 16 year old thread.
