Replace Side view mirror
Replace Side view mirror
We have all done it, - or know someone who has.
I smashed my passenger side view mirror on my 2k1 AE, pulling out of the garage. I broke the mirror, so much for 7 yrs of luck, and cracked the black coller around the mirror. The backside car color plastic piece popped off and is re-usable.
Can I just replace the mirror and coller?
- if so how?
Do I need to replace the whole unit?
- if so how?
any idea on the cost?
Mike

anyone else?
Anyone else have any ideas here?
anyone know of any vendors that sell a side view mirror product?
I was recently at the boston car show and the new lincoln ls
has a downward facing safety light that comes on and illuminates
the door and ground near your car when you use the remote.
seemed like a nice feature
for parking lots

check out custom maxima..they have the mercedes style but i dont know how good they are. And by the way i lied about paradox having them, sorry. I think they used to but custommaxima generally makes a quality product.
I believe the entire door mirror assembly comes as one part.
Looking at the Electronic Service Manual for the '01 Maxima, replacing a door mirror is a bit of pain since you have to remove the inside door trim/finisher. Here are the instructions for removal of the trim/finisher and then the mirror:
1. Remove door trim:
1A. Remove inside handle escutcheon.
1B. Remove screw securing pull handle, and then remove pull handle.
1C. Remove power window switch finisher, then disconnect the connectors.
1D. Remove mask securing front door finisher.
1E. Remove screw securing front door finisher.
1F. Remove clips securing front door finisher.
1G. Lift out front door finisher. Disconnect harness connectors.
2. Remove inner cover front corner of door.
3. Disconnect door mirror harness connector.
4. Remove door mirror harness clips.
5. Remove bolts securing door mirror assembly.
On my old Civic, a replacement door mirror ran me somthing like $100, so I would think $80 to $120 would be something to expect. Check with DaveB from this site.
Good luck.
Peace.
